Friends of NCHS thanks Members for leading the FY23 House Dear Colleague Letter for NCHS

The Friends of NCHS thanks Representatives Kathy Castor (FL-14), Anthony G. Brown (MD-4), and Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-1) for leading the House Dear Colleague letter on behalf of the National Center for Health Statistics. The letter was addressed to Chair DeLauro and Ranking Member Cole of the Labor, HHS, and Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee and requested $210 million in funding for NCHS, which reflected a $30 million increase over the FY22 appropriation. The letter went on to say how the money could be used to improve the health of Americans by building on existing data collection systems, expanding the NCHS data linkage program, expand data on underserved communities, and make data more accessible. A total of 23 Members signed onto the letter which underlines the significant funding NCHS needs to secure to perform its mission of keeping stakeholders informed about the health of the nation.
